Important research results! Microbial fermented tea ingredient Teadenol B inhibits breast cancer
Mar 24,2024 | taetea
Since its establishment in 2013, the Microbial R&D Center of TAETEA Group has been committed to the research of microbial fermented tea and its metabolites, and continues to carry out project cooperation with many domestic scientific research institutions.
Teadenol B is a characteristic chemical component of Pu'er ripe tea and only exists in some specific microbial fermented teas!
The Microbiology R&D Center of TAETEA Group extracted Teadenol B from microbial fermented tea in 2014, and subsequently conducted collaborative research with the School of Pharmacy of Wuhan University. During the biological activity testing of Teadenol B, we found for the first time that it exhibits a significant inhibitory effect on breast cancer cells!
Subsequently, a series of cell, proteomic and animal experimental studies were carried out to explore its role and related mechanisms in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer tumors.
Cell and animal experimental studies of Teadenol B have been completed. The study found that Teadenol B has a significant inhibitory effect on breast cancer cells with four different clinical subtype characteristics, and inhibits breast cancer by promoting autophagy.
This finding provides new evidence that drinking fermented tea prevents breast cancer and highlights the potential of Teadenol B as a new treatment option for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
The article was published in 《Molecules》 magazine, with an impact factor of 4.6.
01 Understanding Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the most common malignant neoplastic disease in women. More than 1 million women worldwide are affected by this disease. The number of cases worldwide has increased significantly, and patients tend to be younger.
Clinically, breast cancer is usually divided into Luminal A (ER+/PR+/HER2-), Luminal B (ER+/PR+/HER2+), HER2-positive (ER-/PR-/HER2+) and triple-negative type (ER-/ PR-/ HER2-).
Among them, triple-negative breast cancer has the characteristics of high mitosis rate, high lymphocyte infiltration rate, high grade, large tumor volume, high recurrence rate, and high mortality. It is the type of breast cancer with the worst prognosis in clinical treatment at present, and there is an urgent need to develop new treatments. treatment method.
Depending on the clinical tumor subtype, there are three main therapies: endocrine therapy, anti-HER2 targeted therapy, and chemotherapy. Current clinical drugs for the treatment of breast cancer are prone to tolerance and have large side effects on the body, resulting in poor therapeutic effects. Therefore, it is crucial to develop new safe and effective drugs for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
02 Characteristic chemical composition of Pu’er ripe tea-Teadenol B
Ripe Pu'er tea is a kind of microbial fermented tea that can play a positive role in maintaining physical health and has the effects of anti-fatigue, lowering blood lipids and preventing cancer.
It contains many biologically active substances, mainly polyphenols, catechins, flavonoids, phenolic acids, tea pigments, saponins, polysaccharides, alkaloids, vitamins, amino acids, organic acids and other chemical components that have been studied and reported, and Most of the substances are common to tea, and only a few compounds have been reported to be isolated only from ripe Pu'er tea.
Teadenol B is a characteristic chemical component of Pu'er ripe tea. It was first disclosed by Japanese scholars in 2011. It is isolated from the metabolite of tea fermented by Aspergillus fungi and has been reported to have adiponectin secretion-promoting activity and protein tyrosine. Phosphatase 1B expression inhibitory activity.
03 Teadenol B inhibits breast cancer by promoting autophagy
1. During the anti-breast cancer cell activity screening process, it was found that Teadenol B showed an inhibitory effect on four types of breast cancer cells corresponding to different clinical subtypes, including triple-negative breast cancer cell MDA-MB-231. Among them, MDA-MB -231, MDA-MB-453, and BT474 have stronger inhibitory effects on breast cancer cells, while the inhibitory effect on breast cancer cells such as MCF-7 is slightly weaker.
2. Based on cell experiments and proteomics studies, it was found that the most significant difference in cell signaling pathways under the intervention of Teadenol B is metabolic pathways (Metabolic pathways, hsa01100).
3. The nude mouse transplanted tumor animal model was used to study the intervention effect of Teadenol B on the size and growth of MDA-MB-231 triple-negative breast cancer transplanted tumors. The experimental results showed that it has a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of breast tumors in nude mice. There was no significant effect on the body weight of nude mice, indicating that Teadenol B can inhibit MDA-MB-231 triple-negative breast cancer transplanted tumors without obvious toxic effects.
4. Mechanistic research based on proteomics experiments showed that Teadenol B, as an autophagy promoter, inhibits the growth of MDA-MB-231 cells by downregulating DCTD protein levels.
04 Research Outlook
Studying the biological activities of the characteristic chemical components in Pu'er tea is the basis for studying the efficacy mechanism of Pu'er tea!
TAETEA Group has insisted on investing in scientific research for many years, innovating the fermentation process of Pu'er tea, and researching the functional ingredients of ripe Pu'er tea. The original intention is to provide consumers with healthier Pu'er tea products!
After years of research, TAETEA Group has developed the "Yiyuansu" series of healthy tea products. The healthy material basis of each product is the beneficial active ingredients from microbial fermented tea!
TEA HAS BENEFITS,TAETEA HAS GREAT BENEFITS! TAETEA will continue to invest and innovate in "tea scientific research" in the future to help industry development and consumer health!
